TETC Launches ‘Torbay’s Green Living Initiative’ (Sept. 2006 to Sept 2007)

The TETC, with support from EcoAction, the Town of Torbay and community volunteers, has secured funding for a new environmental initiative. The project, entitled Torbay’s Green Living Initiative, involves a number of different activities which focus on the environmental sustainability of the Town of Torbay. These activities include community-based recycling, composting, rain-water capture, naturalization projects and public education. In addition, we will interview farmers, harvesters and crafts people in Torbay and surrounding communities to examine the feasibility of a community market – encouraging residents to buy local.

The Torbay Trail Mapping Project

We are currently redeveloping the Torbay Tail maps to accomodate the by-pass road which has impacted our trail system in some locations. This project is being done in partnership with students from MUN's Department of Geography under the supervision of Rodolphe Devillers.

What’s in it for Torbay?
An easy-to-read trail map set, complete with timed trail loops, natural attractions, local history and folklore, and a large trail loop that will circumnavigate the Town!Check back for updates.
