3.                  New Business

3.1       Ownership of trail ways

Ronnie Meaney met with Madeleine and Helen prior to the meeting to discuss the problem of trails crossing private property. Our trail maps don’t say that particular portions of the trails actually cross private land. Mr. Meaney had a problem were he was berated for cutting wood on his land – it seems a walker was under the impression that all trail ways are public property and that Mr. Meaney has no right to cut wood near the trails.

Trails walkers should not be surprised to find land owners cutting wood on their own land.

It is suggested that the following note be included with the trail maps:

Much of the property is private property and is used at your own risk. Please respect the rights of the landowner.

4.                  Other Business

4.1       Manufactured Landscapes

Evan showed the film Manufacture Landscapes, a feature length documentary on the world and work of renowned artist Edward Burtynsky. The film follows Burtynsky to China as he travels the country photographing the evidence and effects of that country’s massive industrial revolution.

5.                  Date of Next Meeting and Adjournment

The next meeting of TETC will take place on Wednesday, February 27 at 7:30 PM.
